Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26 this year, and Christmas falls on a Friday, which turns both holidays into long weekends for a lot of families. If yours is heading to the Nashville area for either one, the calendar is the first thing to check. Holiday weeks are the ones people plan earliest, and they tend to be spoken for first.
Here is a plain look at what those weeks look like at our place in Mt. Juliet, and how to grab the dates you want.
The dates to watch
Thanksgiving week runs Monday, November 23 through Sunday, November 29. Most families arrive Wednesday and leave Sunday, but the ones who come early get the quiet part of the week too.
Christmas is Friday, December 25, and New Year's Eve is the following Thursday. Plenty of guests book Christmas week through New Year's Day as one stay so nobody has to move in the middle of the holidays. If that is your plan, seven nights or more in a row is the easiest way to keep the whole family in one place.
Why a private unit beats the guest room
Both of our units are full apartments in a quiet Mt. Juliet neighborhood, not a room in someone's house. Each has its own entrance, its own driveway, and its own private deck, with no shared interior spaces. Check-in is self-service, so a late flight into Nashville is not a problem. You get your check-in details ahead of time and let yourself in.
The Private Escape (downstairs) has two bedrooms and one bath, sleeps up to four, and has a fireplace for the cold nights. The Private Oasis (upstairs) has two bedrooms with a lofted master reached by ladder, sleeps up to three, and has a secluded upper deck in the trees. The Oasis is set up for guests 12 and older, so families with young kids will want the Escape.
Traveling with a bigger group? The two units sit on the same property, so booking both keeps everyone within a few steps of each other while still giving each household its own space.
Cook the meal, or skip the dishes
Both units have a kitchen set up for real cooking, so you can roast the turkey or bake the pies yourself instead of eating a hotel breakfast on Thanksgiving morning. Groceries are a few minutes away in Mt. Juliet. If you would rather let someone else cook, Nashville's restaurants are about 30 minutes west, and there are plenty of good options closer to home. We put a few in our restaurant guide earlier this year.
The Private Escape has an in-unit washer and dryer, which matters more than you would think on a week-long family trip. Fast Wi-Fi and a dedicated work desk in each unit cover the folks who have to log in for a day or two between the holidays.
Staying through the holidays for work
Not every holiday stay is a vacation. Travel nurses, relocating families, and project crews often need a place from mid-November into January. Stays of 30 nights or more get a monthly discount automatically at checkout, and everything you need for a longer stay is already here: a kitchen to cook in, laundry, comfortable mattresses, a real desk, and a quiet street to come home to.
How to book the week you want
Go to dugginhomes.com/book, pick your unit, and enter your dates. Pricing shows instantly, and booking direct means there is no third-party service fee stacked on top. The full address comes with your confirmation, and you will have a real person to text if anything comes up during your stay.
If the dates you want are already taken, try shifting a day on either end, or check the other unit. And if you are reading this in October, you are right on time.
